The pandemic period has caused quite a few people to move from the office to the home with their work. Many of them loved this form and decided to stay there.
This doesn’t surprise us at all. Home office means masses of freedom and the ability to manage your own time. On top of that, you can work even when your children are sick! However, it is worthwhile to organize your home office space well. A lot of people, especially in blocks of flats, use a bedroom that is separated from the rest of the house. But how to functionally rearrange this room into a home office?
Working at home requires us to organize our own time a lot. However, that’s not all, we need to find a place where we can do our work in peace, as well as have an online meeting with clients or colleagues. This is why the space around us is so important. There can’t be a dryer of laundry behind us, or a furore of children’s toys, or – even worse – a TV on.
It is then perfect to separate a space for ourselves in the bedroom. As a rule, this room has a door behind which you can disappear for work, and enough free space that you can easily fit a small desk and a comfortable chair. Let’s start with what should be in this space to make it functional and pleasant. If you have the option, rearrange the room a bit so that you place the desk under the window. This will provide you with natural light to work with, which in turn will relieve the strain on your eyes. On top of that, it’s important to find a chair that won’t take up a lot of space, while providing excellent support for your back, especially in the lumbar and cervical regions.
Adjustable versions on wheels work best. Also take care of a lamp that will provide the right amount of light in the evening and on cloudy days. If you have extra space, set up a filing cabinet next to it, where you can safely store contracts, bills and other paperwork from work. It’s a good idea to put them in folders or binders, for better order.
We already know that the desk should be placed by the window. If you don’t have much space, you can replace the dressing table with a small desk and use this space alternately, both for makeup and for work. Many people, especially in older buildings, use a window sill on the window. All you need to do is to buy a suitable top and attach it instead of a desk in the area. We assure you that it will perfectly fulfill its function and allow you to make full use of this space.
If you have the opportunity, try to move the desk as far away from the bed as possible. This will allow the rest of the household to rest, even if you work late into the evening. A decorative screen, which can be placed between the desk and the bed and thus cover up the light coming from the computer, works perfectly then. On top of that, it will become a great backdrop for online meetings. For those who have a really large bedroom, openwork wooden walls, permanently mounted, or small bookcases that will separate the two zones, and on top of that will serve as a place to store documents, will work well.
We assure you that you will enjoy working in such conditions, and on top of that, it will be comfortable for all residents.
